Full Description

The remains of two linear ditches and a single pit were recorded in this area in January 2018, during archaeological monitoring of new construction on land at Westbrooke Road. The ditches lay close together, and ran on similar but slightly diverging courses, along a north-east to south-west axis. This alignment was different to the field pattern shown on late 19th century mapping of this area, and it was thought likely that the ditches predated the post-medieval drainage and enclosure programme here. No dating material was recovered from any of the features, however, and their exact origins could not be determined. {1}{2}
