Full Description
Possible site of a former medieval mill, on land to the north of Denton. The field to the immediate north of this site is known as Catmill Green. Welby wrote of Denton in 1919 that 'The becks used to unite in a mill dam, now drained, the mill being disused. This mill was given in the 12th century to the Templars, their tenants about 1200 were a family named Le Kat or Cat, and the grass field above it to this day is known as Catmill Green.' {1}{2}
