Full Description
Waddington war memorial was erected on Bar Lane by the side of the Church of St Michael in 2003. It is a memorial stone of remembrance surrounded by a dwarf brick wall with a hooped metal fence. It commemorates those in the village who gave their lives in all armed conflicts. This recent memorial was erected to replace the original village war memorial, which hung in the Church, but was unfortunately destroyed when a German landmine detonated in the village in May 1941. The landmine completely destroyed the church and several nearby houses. A new church was later built and a war memorial tablet was again hung. (see PRN 61215) {1}
