Full Description

An assemblage of redeposited late medieval pottery was recovered from this location in November 2007, during archaeological monitoring of new development on land at Worth Court. All of the pottery dated from the mid 15th to 16th centuries, and was made of local Bourne ware fabrics. The assemblage contained a large quantity of what appeared to be kiln misfires and wasters, very likely deriving from local pottery production. The assemblage was recovered from layers of farmyard occupation material and debris, suggesting it was redeposited in the later post-medieval period, when the site is known to have formed part of a former farmstead. {1}{2}
