Full Description

A scatter of Neolithic or Bronze Age flints was identified in March 2014, during a programme of systematic field walking, conducted in the field to the west of the Church of St John the Baptist. The assemblage was largely comprised of broken tools and flakes, representing a wider range of artefacts from the earlier flake based debitage also recovered in this location (see PRN 49422). {1} A further scatter of Neolithic or Bronze Age flints was identified in March 2015, during a second programme of systematic field walking, conducted in the field to the south of the village known as Home Field. The assemblage was again largely comprised of broken tools and flakes, including blades, a fabricator and a scraper, and again represented a wider range of artefacts than the earlier flake based debitage also recovered from this location. {2}
