Full Description

The war memorial at East Keal was unveiled in 1920 to honour those who died in the First World War. The memorial is situated on the Main Road at the north of the village. The war memorial is ten feet (three metres) high and stands on three steps. The Clipsham stone calvary was designed and executed by Messrs Browning and Son of Spilsby. {1} East Keal war memorial stands within a memorial garden in a prominent position on the road through the village. It is in the form of a Calvary Cross, in Clipsham stone, on top of a tall limestone shaft that is on a triple-stepped octagonal base and with a slightly tapering square plinth. It was unveiled on the 23 May 1920. The memorial includes the names of men from the parish who died during the First World War, but some names were excluded on the request of the mens’ parents.
