Gedney Dyke war memorial stands at the junction of Memorial Lane and Main Street in Gedney Dyke. It is a red Aberdeen granite obelisk which stands at nine and a half feet (three metres). The 1920 memorial sits on concrete foundations and is enclosed by iron railings. Gedney Dyke's fallen in the First World War and the Second World War are commemorated here. {1} A First World War memorial designed by Charles Warrick, a local mason, and unveiled on 4 April 1920. It is a tall striking obelisk, about 2.8m high, in polished Aberdeen granite set on a square three-stage plinth upon a single-stepped base. The west and east faces are inscribed with the nine names of those who lost their lives in the First World War with the name of one who fell in the Second World War inscribed on the north face.
