Full Description

A series of east to west aligned, parallel, linear magnetic anomalies were recorded in this location in April 2002, during magnetometry survey of land off Barbers Drove. The anomalies were thought to represent the remains of former ploughing or drainage features. {1}{2} Several of the linear anomalies were confirmed in 2003, during suqsequent trial ternching of this area. Although no dating material was recovered, it was thought likely that the features represented former drainage ditches, associated with the expansion of the medieval or pre-Enclosure settlement at Crowland. {3}{4}
