Full Description

The remains of a number of post-medieval ditches were recorded in this location in September 2014, during trial trenching conducted to inform proposed residential development. The ditches were largely all aligned on a roughly north-east to south-west axis, with several corresponding to drainage features depicted on historic mapping of the area. A small assemblage of post-medieval pottery and brick, some of which dated from the 16th to 18th centuries, was recovered from the fills of some of the ditches, indicating the length of time they had been in use. {1}{2}
