Full Description

Earthworks of medieval ridge and furrow to the south-east of Claypole, identified on aerial photography by the National Mapping Programme. {1} Subsequent geophysical survey undertaken in January 2018 confirmed the presence of deposits relating to the furrows {2}, and follow up trenching in 2021 confirmed their presence through excavation, and the ridges were measured at 12m apart from each other, with the excavated furrows measuring approximately 3.0m wide and 0.3m deep. {3}
