Full Description

Fishtoft war memorial, unveiled in 1920, is an octagonal spired obelisk with an ornate cross. Created by Messrs Browning and Son of Spilsby, it is made out of Clipsham stone and is 19ft (6m) high. Decorative panels hold the names of those who served in the First World War and those who died in the Second World War. The memorial stands on Fishtoft Street, before the playing field. {1} Fishtoft War Memorial stands within a fenced area to the south-east of Fishtoft playing fields, adjacent to Fishtoft Road. It is constructed of local Clipsham stone in the form of a spired obelisk with a cross on the top. The memorial includes the names of both those who died in the First World War and those who served and returned. An additional stone was added to the memorial to include the names of those who died during the Second World War. Fishtoft parish council funded repair work in 2010, which included re-lettering, cleaning and minor repairs to cracks in the stonework. There is a wrought iron basket attached to the base on the eastern side of the memorial that is not of special architectural or historic interest.
