Full Description

East Kirkby war memorial commemorates those who fought in the First World War and the Second World War. The memorial sits at the crossroads of Main Road and Chapel Lane. It is a sixteen feet (five metre) high ornate Gothic style obelisk in Portland stone, enclosed by a two and a half feet (one metre) high wall, topped with iron railings. M. Credland lists the memorial as including Hagnaby. {1} A First World War memorial, dated to 1919, with additions for the Second World War commemorating the men from East Kirkby and Hagnaby who died in those conflicts.
