Full Description

The churchyard at the Church of St Martin is depicted on the 2nd edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey County Series map. The church it serves was dedicated in 1122, but may have its origins in the late Anglo-Saxon period (see PRN 33191), and it may be that the churchyard dates to this same period. {1} Paul Everson and David Stocker have argued that this part of the village was a planned settlement created in about AD1100 with the church and churchyard as an integrated component. The present churchyard may date from this time. {2}
