Full Description

The Beridge Arms was the subject of historical building recording, conducted in May 2014, prior to its proposed demolition. The building is a former inn, originally built as an accommodation annex for guests of the Beridge family of the nearby Algakirk Hall. The inn comprises the main public house structure, built in the early to mid 19th century, and two adjoining accommodation ranges, built shortly after. The buildings are of two storeys, and are built of brick laid in a Flemish bond, with roofs of Welsh slate. Alterations to the buildings were made in the mid and late 20th century, when the ground floor was modernised and a single storey extension was added to the rear. Although much altered, the upper floor of the main buildings retains its original 19th century layout and some original features. {1}{2}
