Full Description

Several short lengths of linear magnetic anomalies were recorded in this location in May 2014, during a magnetometry survey, conducted on land off Hall Gate, Holbeach. The anomalies were thought to possibly represent former field boundaries, on a different alignment to the current field system, though their short nature makes conclusive interpretation difficult. {1}{2} Subsequent trial trenching in 2015 (see ELI14739) found no evidence of field boundaries at this location, although a large silted channel, thought to be a former course of the Holbeach river, was encountered. This may have been the source of the linear anomalies.
