Description

18 trenches were excavated as part of an archaeological evaluation to inform an Environmental Impact Assessment for a proposed windfarm on the site. The trenches were located to investigate potential archaeological anomalies indicated by geophysical survey (ELI9618), as well as on the sites of the proposed turbine bases and meteorological masts. Remains of late Iron Age - Roman salt making activity were discovered in some trenches, including finds of briquetage. {1}{2}
