Description
An archaeological watching brief was conducted during groundworks associated with the construction of new sports facilities at Witham Hall School, Witham on the Hill. Traces of ridge and furrow were recorded across large parts of the site. An assemblage of late medieval and early post-medieval pottery was recovered, along with a quantity of more recent material. The pottery was thought to have derived from manuring scatters, indicating a long period of agricultural use of this land, before its inclusion in the parkland of Witham Hall. {1}{2}
