Description
Seven trial trenches were excavated to inform proposed new residential development on land at Baird's Mill, Ermine Street, Ancaster. The remains of a ditch, from which sherds of 2nd to 4th century Roman greyware pottery were recovered, was identified along with the likely associated remains of two post holes and a possible pit. Fragments of the largely demolished, mid 19th century malt house complex that previously occupied the site were also recorded. {1}{2}
