Description

23 trial trenches were excavated as part of a phased programme of investigation to inform proposed development on land at Wygate Park, Spalding. A discrete group of medieval curvilinear ditched features were recorded; these were interpreted as wetland features created to hunt wild fowl, known as pewit drives. A series of east to west aligned boundary ditches were also recorded, and interpreted as the remains of likely post-medieval agricultural activity. {1}{2}
