Description

A magnetometry scanning survey was undertaken on approximately 66ha of land near Whisby. The surevy used a Geoscan FM36 fluxgate gradiometer set to 'scanning' mode. Scanning found the general background level of magnetic response to be uniformly very quiet, although a small number of anomalies and zones of fluctuating response were marked as targets for subsequent detailed survey. Overall, a small number of responses were recorded which may be of archaeological potential, but this is tentative. The majority of anomalies detected were attributed to recent agriculture and pedologoical variation. (Event LI4356) {1}
