Description

Trial trenching was carried out as part of pre-determination evaluation for construction of a commercial unit, including the monitoring of a borehole on 09/11/1998. Three trenches were excavated, two through the ground floor at the front and rear of the building and the third through the basement floor. Trench A measured 2m by 2m, and Trenches B and C measured 1.5m by 1m; additionally, a 1.2m wide section of the north-facing basement wall was demolished to expose deposits behind it. After trenching, auger samples were taken in Trenches A and B and at the base of the section exposed behind the basement wall.{1}
