Description
An archaeological watching brief was conducted during groundworks for the construction of a new dwelling on land at Church End, Wrangle. The remains of a probable late medieval fishpond was identified, sealed by a layer of subsoil, which appears to have formed after the pond was deliberately backfilled in the early 20th century. A single redeposited sherd of 13th to 15th century Toynton All Saints ware pottery was recovered from the backfill of the pond, along with a small collection of late 19th and early 20th century material. {1}{2}
