Description

Trial trenching was undertaken on circa 4.3ha of land prior to proposed development, in order to determine the presence/absence of archaeological remains, and how any remains would be affected by the proposed development. Twenty two trenches measuring circa 25m by 1.5m were excavated. Trenches 1-7 were placed to locate the route of the Baston Outgang Roman road; Trenches 17-19 were placed to locate any further archaeological remains associated with Trench 6; all other trenches were randomly distributed.{1}
