Description

A site visit was undertaken to assess the impact of proposed development at the former Caistor Hospital site. The original structures on this site formed the Caistor House of Industry, which was re-organised in 1836 as the Caistor Union Workhouse, and later converted to a hospital in 1937. Whilst all of the principal structures on the site were still extant at the time of the visit, some deterioration was becoming apparent, with signs of vandalism and weather damage noted in places, and some buildings now in a poor state of repair. {1}
