Description

A fieldwalking survey was undertaken on circa 21ha of land prior to planting short rotation coppice and woodland, in order to collect and plot pre-19th century material and to identify areas of activity. Fields 1 and 4 were walked; a 20m by 20m grid was walked in 20m transects in an east/west direction. A circa 60m strip at the northern end of Field 4 was walked in 10m transects, due to the lack of Roman finds from a reputed settlement site.{1}
