Description

An evaluation, consisting of trial trenching, was undertaken on circa 1.2ha of land prior to proposed development. Five trenches were excavated initially, placed to investigate anomalies identified by prior geophysical survey, with a further two being added to discover if Roman remains existed adjacent to the railway embankment. Trench 1 measured 25m; Trenches 2 and 3 measured 15m; Trench 5 measured 20.5m; Trench 7 measured 10m. Dimensions for the remaining trenches were not provided.{1}
