Description

An evaluation, in the form of trial trenching, was carried out on 0.57ha of land prior to residential development. Seven trenches were positioned to investigate anomalies identified by a previous geophysical survey (ELI2231). A small group of Saxo-Norman ditches and pits were encountered, including several parallel ditches identified as a migrating field boundary. Palaeoenvironmental remains including charred cereal grain, animal and fish bone were recovered from the pits, indicating a nearby settlement. {1}{2}
