Description

An Assessment of Significance and Heritage Impact Assessment was undertaken at Ivy House Farm, Bag Enderby, to inform any future development of the site. The cottage and surrounding outbuildings, as well as the setting, which included the church and the lane leading to the site, were photographed and recorded. A description of the extant buildings was given, as well as the history of the farmstead. The report noted that the 1839 tithe map depicted several additional outbuildings present to the west and south of the cottage, which predate the construction of the extant complex of buildings. Additional buildings were identified to the west and east of the surviving outbuildings; these appeared to have been demolished by the late 19th or early 20th century. {1} This survey was followed by a further detailed Heritage Impact Assessment focussed on the thatched cottage itself (see ELI14363).
