Description

An archaeological excavation was conducted on land to the east of Mayfield Gardens, Baston, prior to the construction of a new residential development. Three phases of Late Iron Age-Roman agricultural activity were indentified; features excavated included a Late Iron Age beam slot of unknown function, and a group of five probable corn dryers of mid 2nd to 3rd century AD date. Two inhumation burials were also encountered. {1}{2}
