Description

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the installation of surface water drainage in the churchyard of St Cuthbert's Church, Brattleby. A large worked stone block was encountered to the south of the church. This was suggested to possibly represent part of a foundation for an earlier phase of the church's construction, before the restoration and partial rebuilding by James Fowler in 1858. {1}{2}
