Description

Following earlier schemes of desk based assessment and geophysical survey (ELI14430-32), a trial trenching evaluation of 35 trenches was undertaken between August and October 2014 north of Gorse Lane, Denton to inform a planning application for mineral extraction. Domestic and agricultural remains dating from the Middle Iron Age to the Early Roman period were recorded, along with evidence for lime quarry pits and a possible Roman lime kiln. {1}{2}
