Description

Two trial trenches were excavated on land to the east of South End, Boston, to inform the proposed construction of a new apartment building. A number of phases of intercutting pits were encountered, all truncating earlier flood deposits which themselves sealed a pre-13th century occupation layer. Also truncating the flood deposits were a group of post holes and a possible beam slot, with associated possible floor surfaces. Further flood deposits sealed the revealed features. 13th to 17th century pottery including both local and imported German wares was recovered. {1}{2}{3}
