Description

Historic building recording was undertaken on a stable forming part of a group of former agricultural buildings on Laundon Road, Threekingham, prior to its demolition. The stable building is built in limestone rubble with a pitched gabled pantile roof, and likely dates to the early 19th century. The roof structure had a single hand sawn wooden tie beam. It is likely that the building was reroofed at some point, as the remaining timbers are machine sawn. A brick extension was added in the late 19th century, since demolished and replaced by other modern brick structures. Internally, the stalls had been removed, and the only surviving fixture was a timber food trough on the northwest wall adapted with the addition of a half-sectioned ceramic sewer pipe, possibly to make cleaning easier. {1}{2}
