Description

A scheme of trial trenching was undertaken in December 2014 as part of the planning process for the construction of a solar farm. The results confirmed the earlier geophysical survey (ELI14191), recording ditches and enclosures dating to the 1st and 2nd century. The ditches and enclosures, in conjunction with the presence of domestic and farm animals, and charred plant remains, were considered suggestive of agriculture. Furrows of possible medieval or early post-medieval date were also recorded {1}{2}
