A magnetic susceptibility survey was carried out over four fields at Grange Farm, Kirkby on Bain in advance of quarry extension. The results were inconclusive but the survey pinpointed two enhanced zones of magnetism, one in the north-east corner of the extension area and another along the western boundary of the area extended as phase 2. Three areas were selected for magnetometry survey, covering approximately 20% of the site. Magnetometry identified one weak linear anomaly suggested to be of recent date. No features of prehistoric date were identified despite subsequent artefactual finds. {1}
