Description

Seventeen trial trenches were excavated on land to the north of Church Lane, Holton le Clay, to inform proposed residential development on the site. A series of Iron Age to Romano-British ditches and pits were encountered. In the south of the site, a widespread deposit containing 11th-12th century pottery and a large quantity of animal bone was recorded. {1}{2}
