A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during the construction of a new residential dwelling with attached garage on land to the rear of 83 Backgate, Cowbit in March to May 2017. A pond infill deposit was identified in the esatern part of the new building area. The deposit contained one sherd of mid 15th-16th century pottery, possibly dating its use to the late medieval period. No further archaeological features were identified. {1}{2}
