Description

A dendrochronological study was conducted on samples taken of oak timbers from the Church of St Edith, Tinkle Street, Grimoldby. The samples were taken from both the upper and lower parts of the nave roof, and also from the south aisle roof. Tree-ring analysis indicated that all of the sampled timbers in both parts of the nave roof were likely obtained in a single felling episode, during the mid to late 15th century. The analysis indicated that all of the sampled timbers in the south aisle roof were also likely obtained in a single felling episode, this time during the mid 18th century. {1}
