Description

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was conducted during groundworks for the construction of new residential dwellings and the extension of an existing building on the site of the former Bull and Chain Public House, 7 Langworthgate, Lincoln. This work follows on from earlier trial trenching on the site (see ELI13235). The remains of a medieval wall, several pits, and other features relating to the occupation of the site between the medieval and modern periods were excavated and recorded. Finds recovered included animal bone, 14th century to modern pottery, and 13th-15th century ceramic building material. {1}{2}
