Description
A programme of archaeological monitoring was conducted during groundworks for the construction of new leisure facilities, on land at Beckside Farm, Caistor Road, Osgodby. A previous geophysical survey of the site had identified magnetic anomalies of potential archaeological origin (see ELI12237). The monitoring was completed in areas where 3 new lakes were to be constructed, and revealed seven, shallow cut pit-like features. No finds or dating material were found in any of the features, however, and their exact date or function remains uncertain. A natural or modern origin for the features could not be discounted. {1}{2}
