Description
A watching brief took place on two house plots and a service trench on land at Westfield Avenue, North Greetwell. Work identified the remains of pits and ditches, a probable medieval ridge and furrow field system and a complex of gullies. One gully cut one of the 'furrows' and was taken to indicate a later gully system. Two sherds of Roman pottery were recovered from the topsoil of Plot 2. Evidence suggested that the east end of the site was formerly waterlogged and some of the features may be related to flood management. {1} {2}
