Description

A programme of archaeological excavation was conducted prior to the construction of new residential development, on land to the east of Grantham Road, Waddington. The excavation area was placed to further investigate a ring ditch identified in earlier geophysical survey (see ELI13130) and trial trenching (see ELI13131) in the area. The excavation revealed the entire extent of the ring ditch, now thought to be a probable Bronze Age or Iron Age barrow, as well as a north-east to south-west aligned linear ditch, and an irregular oval pit, which are likely to be natural, geological features. No finds or other dating material was found in any of the features. {1}{2}
