Description

An archaeological watching brief was conducted during groundworks for the construction of new and replacement extensions to 2 Northgate, Lincoln. Evidence of extensive limestone quarrying activity, thought to be of possible medieval date, was recorded across the site, with two redeposited sherds of Roman pottery being recovered from the late post-medieval backfills of these quarries. {1}{2}
