An earth resistance survey was conducted as part of a community archaeological investigation of a field in the west of Ancaster, to the east of Pottergate Road. Several areas of ephemeral geophysical anomalies were identified, possibly representing potential archaeological remains of unknown origin or function. {1} Subsequent trial trenching in this area resolved all of the investigated anomalies as near-surface geological variation or recent made-ground deposits, and no archaeological features were identified (see ELI12871).
