Description

Tree-ring analysis was undertaken of the oak timbers from the front of the Jew's House, Lincoln. The timbers were thought to have been inserted as part of 13th or 14th century re-building works, following possible structural failure of the house. Only one sample taken from the timbers was suitable for dating, but this gave a felling date between 1321 and 1352, indicating a likely early to mid 14th date for the alteration works. {1}
