Description

23 trial trenches were excavated to inform a proposed extension to Holywell Quarry. The trenches were positioned to investigate geophysical anomalies identified by a previous magnetometry survey, resolving many of the anomalies as natural geological features or modern disturbance. Two undated ditches were identified, however, along with a further ditch from which a large quantity of Iron Age pottery and cattle bones were recovered. {1}{2}
