Description

In September 2009, following the discovery of a possible sword during metal detecting, Lincolnshire County Council staff visited the site and excavated a skeleton that was recorded and photographed. A trench of approximately two metres in length by one and a half metres in width, targeting the skeleton, was excavated using hand tools. The trench was excavated in level spits so that the skeleton was revealed and any finds could be recorded. The skeleton was left in situ although the finds were lifted for recording in the Portable Antiquities Scheme. {1}
