Description
An excavation was conducted to find the remains of a crashed German Dornier Do 217-E4 aircraft in Shire Wood, Revesby. Whilst the full details of this excavation and its findings were not reported, some fragments of the wreckage were recovered and form part of the Lincolnshire Aircraft Recovery Group's display at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre within the former RAF East Kirkby. A large assemblage of Romano-British greyware pottery was also found with fragments of oyster shells, above a layer of stone sets of pebbles/boulders. {1}{2}
