Description

An historic building survey was conducted to inform the conservation of the Church of St John the Baptist, Sutterby. The church has its origins in the 12th century but is now disused. The church consists of the nave, chancel and south porch, and features a blocked Norman doorway in the north wall. Window tracery dating from the late medieval period is present and there are wall paintings that still survive. The porch was built in 1743 and re-uses two 14th century stone mouchettes. {1}
