Description
SK 99 SE GLENTHAM NORTON PLACE Bridge over Lakes 3/16 at Norton Place 1.11.66 (Formerly listed as The II* Bridge between the takes) Bridge. 1776 by John Carr. Ashlar. A hump-backed 3 span bridge with curved abutments and 3 semi-circular headed arches with reeded architraves, square imposts and rusticated piers. The abutments terminate in circular piers with roundel decoration. The parapet has largely collapsed, but the Nattes drawing of 1793 in the Banks Collection Vol.3, p.141, shows a panelled balustraded parapet. Listing NGR: SK9720990505
